8 Things I've Noticed About Myself Lately

The past few weeks have been filled with some introspection on my part. I'm not sure why this is, probably because the weather has been crummy so I've had too much time on my hands indoors. And the fact that I procrastinate things I should actually be doing. But here is what I've learned about myself.

1. I'm very territorial about my food. I had an inkling that this was true, but it was confirmed when I was at Red Mango with Husband last week and I got very upset at him that he took a much bigger bite of my Red Mango than I had taken of his. He finds it funny, although he doesn't understand why I get like this and frankly, I don't either. But for my "Spring Resolution", I'm going to try and be more selfless with my food-sharing.

2. I have a tendency to state the obvious when I go to front desks at various places, medical places in particular. Such as,

At Physical Therapy: Hi I'm here for physical therapy.
At the Dr's Office: Hi I'm here for a doctor's appointment.
At the Surgery Center: Hi I'm here for surgery.
At the Allergy Clinic: Hi I'm here for allergy shots.
At the Pharmacy: Hi I'm here to pick up a prescription.

You get the idea.

This generally produces a somewhat blank expression from whomever is on the other side of the counter followed by a prompt usually consisting of, "Yes I figured, what is your name?"

3. I'm incredibly good at talking myself out of doing things early in the morning because I want to sleep so much. I could have everything planned out to get up early and go to the gym or do homework or clean the apartment, but whenever my alarm goes off, I become the most persuasive person in the world. And go back to sleep for at least an hour more.

4. I should probably start seeing a grown-up doctor rather than a pediatrician. I called yesterday to get lab results from my strep test (negative, btw) and they kept asking for my child's name, birthdate, symptoms, etc. It seemed like too much of a hassle to explain that I was the child so I just went with it.

5. I hate dirty bathrooms and clutter. I often end up cleaning things when I really ought to be doing homework or making dinner because I just can't stand an unkempt place. I will even sometimes go to bed an hour later than intended because I can't tolerate going to bed in a messy room.

6. Whether or not I have a good day is often dictated by the food I get to eat. I see nothing wrong with this.

7. I've ironed a total of 5 of my own items of clothing in my entire life. I'm not sure if this means that I just don't notice that my clothes are wrinkly or if I subconsciously never buy things that need to be ironed because I find the chore obnoxious. I tend to just steam things in the bathroom with the vapor from my hot showers.

8. I have a shopping addiction. Oh wait, I already knew that.

Well now that all of you know some random things about me, I think I shall now get back to writing my rhetorical analysis paper. Maybe.

  1. I totally empathize with the medical desks thing... you can't just walk up and be like "my name is Megan". I always state the obvious too. How do you get past it? Oy

  2. I have the same problem with stating the obvious, but recently I've started to sort of skirt the problem by saying "Hi I have a [time] appointment with [Dr's name]" - which is still kind of stating the obvious but also keeping things not tooooo obvious ;)
